The German carrier Rheinbahn Düsseldorf has ordered ten Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses. The Polish manufacturer will deliver the vehicles to Düsseldorf in 2025. The city wants to achieve climate neutrality no later than ten years later. The buses ordered will be powered by green hydrogen produced exclusively from renewable electricity.

"Solaris continuously supports sustainable transport by offering the widest range of zero-emission vehicles. Our partnership with Düsseldorf dates back to 2005 and has included, among other things, the purchase of electric buses. I am delighted that our hydrogen buses will also be serving the residents of Düsseldorf as part of the city's public transport system next year," said Olivier Michard, Solaris Board Member for Sales and Marketing.

The 12-metre hydrogen buses will be equipped with a technologically advanced 70 kW Ballard hydrogen fuel cell, which will be supported by Solaris High Power batteries. The bus will also be equipped with a wide range of GSR2 compliant systems to provide the highest level of safety for passengers and drivers.

The Solaris brand and its hydrogen-powered buses are gaining popularity in the German market. In the last few months alone, the company has received new orders from Hamburg, Frankfurt, Cologne, Duisburg and Gross Gerau, among others. The total number of hydrogen-powered Solaris buses delivered or ordered to date has already exceeded 700.
