THE WORLD'S FASTEST HYDROGEN RACING CARS
At Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe 2022, we met the visionary students from the FORZE HYDROGEN RACING team. This team is closely associated with the Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands and also with their main sponsor, Shell. The FORZE HYDROGEN RACING exhibition stand showed how the world of motor racing can be fundamentally transformed. The pride of the stand was the in-house built Forze VIII Hydrogen Racing race car in the supersport category. This hydrogen powerhouse with its special, distinctive charm attracted the attention of virtually all Expo visitors. We were also captivated.
The Forze VIII is capable of speeds of up to 210 km/h. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds. The Forze VIII was designed in 2018.
However, the FORZE HYDROGEN RACING team also presented us at the Expo with its latest hydrogen racing car, designed for 2022: the Forze IX, although this car was not physically presented at the show. Here are the specs of the Forze IX: Top speed: 300 km/h. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h: less than 3 seconds. As with the Forze VIII, its emissions are zero. This hydrogen supercar should not only race at Le Mans, it should also pave the way for purely hydrogen-only car races.
Forze IX is also soon to compete in the GT class of the Supercar Challenge, the fastest racing division, against today's top racing cars such as Porsche and Lamborghini.
"A future of racing without emissions is our dream,” says Team Manager Coen Tonnaer. “We want to promote hydrogen as a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels by showing that it can compete with conventional petrol-powered cars on track."
