Poland's Solaris Urbino 12 fuel cell buses will carry passengers in the Paris area and Mantova in Italy from 2025. The French metropolitan area, in particular, has been progressive in its efforts to make public transport environmentally friendly. The bus fleet there should be 100% emission-free by 2029.

In France, Solaris hydrogen buses will be part of a pilot hydrogen project by Île-de-France Mobilités. The manufacturer will deliver a total of 22 Urbino 12 hydrogen buses to France by 2025.

The deployment of hydrogen buses is part of initiatives launched in 2018 to gradually lead to the renewal of the entire fleet of buses in Île-de-France.

In Italy, Solaris has been awarded a contract by the APAM Esercizio carrier from Mantova in Lombardy. The delivery of five Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses is scheduled for the end of 2025. The province of Mantova is included in the Hydrogen Valleys" project. Ultimately, the project foresees the production of over 1,500 tonnes of hydrogen from renewable sources per year.

The Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen is equipped with 70 kW fuel cells. The hydrogen will be stored in five composite tanks located on the roof of the vehicle. The buses will be equipped with electric motors in the drive axle, powered by the energy generated in the fuel cell. Thanks to this technology, the buses will emit only water vapour into the environment.

Although this is the first order from customer APAM Esercizio of Mantova, Solaris' position on the Italian peninsula is firmly established. This is evidenced by recent major orders, including 105 electric buses for Milan, 112 articulated trolleybuses for AMT Genova, 130 Urbino 12 hydrogen buses for TPER in Bologna and 90 hydrogen buses for Azienda Veneziana della Mobilita.
