The Hydrogen Council today introduced Topsoe as its newest board member, strengthening the organization's diverse and influential leadership led by its CEO. The Board also shared the news that Yoshinori Kanehana, Chairman of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, has extended his term as Co-Chairman.
The Hydrogen Council Board is represented at the highest level by global CEOs, all of whom are committed to providing the necessary leadership to demonstrate a strong vision and decisive action for a better hydrogen-powered energy future. Topsoe, a world leader in carbon reduction technologies, is now part of the group, with Roeland Baan joining the board.
As of 1 January 2024, the Hydrogen Council's Board of Directors consists of Air Liquide, Anglo American, Cummins, Ecopetrol, ENGIE, Forvia, Hyundai Motor Group, Johnson Matthey, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Linde, Sasol, Shell, Sinopec, Topsoe and Toyota .

The Hydrogen Council Board of Directors is supported by membership of the Hydrogen Council, comprised of 140 companies representing global hydrogen industry leaders across the hydrogen value chain from the Americas, Europe and Africa to the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Council members are united in their commitment to unlock the potential of hydrogen to accelerate the transition to net zero.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries extends term as co-chairman
Kawasaki Heavy Industries, a founding member of the Hydrogen Council, has extended its term as Co-Chair of the Hydrogen Council until June 2024. This extension underscores Kawasaki Heavy Industries' commitment to fostering collaboration and advancing the hydrogen industry.
"I am honored to extend my term as co-chair until June 2024. At a critical stage of pushing implementation into place, the Council's commitment to foster collaboration and drive progress in the hydrogen industry is seamlessly aligned with Kawasaki Heavy Industries' vision," described the sentiments of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Chairman Yoshinori Kanehana, who has been co-chair of the Hydrogen Council since January 2022. "It remains imperative to strengthen the collective knowledge and expertise of the Council members toward our common goals. I reaffirm my belief that the growth and maturation of the hydrogen industry will be accelerated through robust partnerships with key industries, policymakers and investors."
Yoshinori Kanehana will promote and support the activities of the Hydrogen Council with fellow co-chair Sanjiv Lamba, CEO of Linde, who began his term in June 2023. Throughout the history of the Hydrogen Council, collaborative leadership through co-chairs from different sectors and regions has been a strength.
